BLAINE, Minn. (May 24, 2010) - The NSC Minnesota Stars have added two more
midfielders to their roster. The Stars now have 26 signed players.
Geison Moura, a 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder, made his debut for the
Stars Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Miami FC. Moura started the game and played
64 minutes before he was replaced.
Moura was born in Sao Caetano, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He moved to northeastern
Brazil to sign his first professional contract with Esporte Clube Bahia,
then of the Brazilian second division. In 2005, he returned to the Sao Paulo
state to join Portuguesa Santista of the third division. Moura moved to the
United States in 2007 to join the New Jersey Ironmen of the Major Indoor
Soccer League. He played nine games for the Ironmen, scoring two goals,
before joining the Rockford Rampage for the 2008-2009 season. Moura began
training with the Stars in April.
The Stars have also signed 24-year-old Lucas Rodriguez, pending league
approval. Rodriguez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and grew up
idolizing Diego Maradona. He attended Mid America Nazarene University in
Olathe, Kan., where he was named to National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics all-American teams all four years. He also played for the KC Brass
of the Premier Development League between college seasons. Rodriguez joined
the Stars during their season-opening training camp.
