The Minnesota Thunder and Minnesota Lightning games this Saturday, June 14, have been moved to the following times to accommodate stadium construction inside the National Sports Center. These two matches will be played on the exhibition field at the NSC (Field U2) just west of the main stadium. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets as bleacher seating is limited

Lightning vs. Chicago Gaels, 4 p.m.

Thunder vs. Atlanta Silverbacks, 6 p.m.

Due to field lighting the games had to be switched in order to accommodate both teams. The matches are being played on the exhibition field so that the Thunder’s new stadium at the NSC can moved to its new configuration by July 1. The Thunder has partnered with the NSC to remove the running track around the stadium and to bring the playing surface 80 feet closer to the main grandstand. In addition, the other three sides will be enclosed in bleachers.

“Once our stadium is complete in July, we will have one of the top soccer venues in the country, and certainly the best in the state,” said Thunder president Manny Lagos. “The atmosphere over the next couple of weeks for our games at the exhibition field will be electric.”

The Happy Gnome Restaurant in St. Paul will make two shuttle runs to and from the National Sports Center. The shuttles will depart at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
